The Program Coordinator for GENIUS NY is responsible for supporting the operations of the GENIUS NY business accelerator. The accelerator is a New York State funded economic development program operated by CenterState CEO, now in its fourth year of operation. Each year a cohort of five teams is accepted into the accelerator to compete for $3 million in funding. The accelerator is a one-year in-residence program housed in The Tech Garden (TTG) in downtown Syracuse, New York.  

Position Title: GENIUS NY Program Coordinator

Position Reports To: Director of GENIUS NY

FLSA/Status: Exempt/Full-Time

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for scheduling and record keeping for the GENIUS NY program.
  • Responsible for administrative reporting of program activities and outcomes.
  • Assist program director in performance tracking of GENIUS NY companies.
  • Coordinate as needed with GENIUS NY staff to facilitate delivery of programming, events and resources.
  • Support GENIUS NY program marketing, applicant recruitment and application review, as needed.

General Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, support, and integrate the GENIUS NY program into TTG activities and operations.
  • Coordinate GENIUS NY program and activities with CenterState CEO programing and operations.
  • Integrate the GENIUS NY accelerator and its programs into the larger CNY innovation ecosystem.
  • Support the Director of GENIUS NY with other duties as assigned.
  • Perform all duties with the highest ethical and professional standards, often including strict confidentiality.
  • Participate as an active and eager member of a larger team, cooperating and supporting colleagues’ duties as directed.

Education Requirements:

One to three years’ experience with startups, business accelerators or incubators, or economic development programs preferred. Strong program and operations experience is essential. A track record of meeting performance goals and executing complex operations is also essential. 

Skills:

Responsibilities include frequent communication with team members and GENIUS NY clients. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Action oriented and thorough with follow-up procedures.
  • Technical proficiency, Microsoft Office proficiency, familiarity with Salesforce and Zoom.
  • Ability to master video conference technology.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing, analyzing, and interpreting data and figures, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading. General office equipment is used.

Work Environment:

There is no exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Work is performed in a typical office work environment with outside travel as needed.
