The engagement and operations coordinator (coordinator) works with the Greater Oswego Fulton Chamber of Commerce (GOFCC) executive director to advance the business and community interests of the region through advocacy, member services and community enhancements. The GOFCC is a fully integrated partner of CenterState CEO. The coordinator will work in collaboration with the executive director, chamber events manager, CenterState CEO staff, chamber members and local leaders to build a vibrant retail, commercial, and residential environment using various resources.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

Member Development & Support:

  • Work closely with the executive director to recruit new members, retain current members, and assist with the introduction and orientation of member benefits and prospecting.
  • Act as a liaison to the small business and nonprofit community in Oswego County.
  • Achieve sales and member engagement goals set at the beginning of each fiscal year.
  • Support small business membership drives and member incentive programs.
  • Serves as key contact for GOFCC Ambassador Committee and attend ambassador events to represent the chamber and CenterState CEO; take photos for promotional purposes as needed.
  • Work alongside the executive director and CenterState CEO Communications team to develop sales and collateral materials and digital content.

Operational Services & Member Programs:

  • Attend and support GOFCC/ CenterState CEO organizational events as scheduled. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting senior members of the events team, check-in/attendance, making introductions, hosting/customer service and networking.  
  • Support inbound and outbound communications including, but not limited to, emails, phone calls, walk-ins, “office hours,” etc.
  • Work closely with SUNY Oswego Office of Business & Community Relations on day-to-day office operations including greeting visitors, providing customer support to members and vendors, assisting with phone calls and maintaining a professional environment.
  • Work closely with CenterState CEO’s Economic Inclusion division and Oswego County Workforce Development to identify opportunities for partnership, trainings, and synergy.
  • Support the executive director and CenterState CEO team on identifying member economic development opportunities.
  • Support executive director and events manager in identifying grant opportunities and financial resources.

Community/External Representation on behalf of GOFCC/CenterState CEO:

  • Sit on nonprofit boards and committees on behalf of GOFCC/CenterState CEO.
  • Conduct self publicly on/off hours as a representative of GOFCC/CenterState CEO, keeping mission, vision and values in mind.

Events:

  • Support the events manager and CenterState CEO to support the administrative details of events, such as communication, data entry, correspondence, planning, etc.
  • Act as on-site GOFCC representative during the Oswego – Fulton Farmers Market (June – October)
  • Work with CenterState CEO on the coordination of various event advertising and public relations.

Communications:

  • Work alongside the GOFCC and CenterState CEO Communications teams to support all communications related activities, including, but not limited to, the GOFCC’s social media platforms and the chamber webpage.
  • Work alongside economic development to identify communication opportunities to improve and assist with the delivery of chamber related information.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Education and Experience: 

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a professional office setting.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and social media platforms.
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have strong people skills and be able to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work within scheduled deadlines, including able to work varied hours outside of normal office hours.
  • Must be able to travel to various events, meetings and appointments.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter and be able to work both on a team and independently.
  • Must work well in a busy, fast pace and professional environment.

Special Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Standing, walking, bending and sitting will be a regular part of the position. Occasional lifting 50 lbs. will be required.   

Work Environment:

  • The majority of the job is completed in an office environment. Additional work settings include outdoor settings, member meetings and event locations. 
  • Outdoor settings include but are not limited to: farmers market, Project Bloom, golf tournaments, ribbon cuttings, etc.
  • The worker may be exposed to occupational hazards which require special precautions and occasional exposure to serious injury and subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions such as, noise, fumes, dust, oils, chemicals, moving parts and equipment and exposure to outdoor weather elements. The worker is occasionally subject to confined spaces.
