The temporary, part-time Farmers Market Coordinator works with the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce (GOFCC) member engagement and community events manager as well as the executive director to oversee the on-site operations during the scheduled hours for the months of June through October 2021. The GOFCC is a fully integrated partner of CenterState CEO.

The Farmers Market Coordinator will also oversee all volunteers for both Farmers Market locations and work in collaboration with GOFCC leadership and community members to ensure the weekly execution of both the Oswego and Fulton markets meet the expectations of the event sponsors. The Farmers Market Coordinator will ensure the needs of both the vendors and the community are met.

Division/Department: Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce

Reports To: GOFCC Executive Director

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (additional duties within the scope of the position may be assigned)

  • Attend each market to ensure a smooth operation.
  • Manage the logistics of each market (booth set up and take down, police oversight, etc.).
  • Manage the payments and proper records of vendor payments, EBT program, tokens, etc.
  • Work with GOFCC leadership/CenterState CEO on an as needed basis
  • Ensure that patrons and vendors adhere to the Farmers Market Federation and NYS COVID-19 rules and regulations; to be given and updated by CenterState CEO

Ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in retail sales, Farmers Market and/or professional services preferred.
  • Working knowledge of point of sales software preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to work within scheduled deadlines, including able to work varied hours outside of normal office hours. The ability to work evening and Saturday hours.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter and be able to work both on a team and independently.
  • Must have strong people skills and be able to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Must work well in a busy, fast pace environment.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Standing, walking, bending, and sitting, climbing up and down stairs will be a regular part of the position.  Occasional lifting, up to 25 pounds will be required. 

Work Environment:

The job will be completed outdoors at both farmers market locations. The Farmers Market Coordinator will regularly be exposed to occupational hazards which require special precautions and occasional exposure to serious injury and subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions such as, noise, fumes, dust, oils, chemicals, moving parts and equipment and exposure to outdoor weather elements. The worker is occasionally subject to confined spaces.
