The Research and Policy Analyst will collect, analyze, and present data and information from both primary (self-generated) and secondary resources to serve CenterState CEO, a regional economic development, policy and business leadership organization.

Reports To: Sr. Vice President, Research, Policy and Planning

FLSA Classification/Status: Full-time/Exempt

Essential Job Duties: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Conduct primary research, including, but not limited to, quantitative and qualitative methods such as surveys and focus groups.
  • Identify existing sources of data and information for the use of CenterState CEO, its members and affiliate organizations.
  • Analyze data and information and build data driven recommendations with respect to policy, programs, and projects that CenterState CEO can adapt and implement.
  • Work with CenterState CEO members and internal staff to analyze data to support their work through problem solving, problem identification, scoping, and recommending solutions.
  • Communicate the results in writing, through graphic means and through oral presentation.
  • Build and maintain metrics for the organization and specific departments of it, and to identify useful sets of metrics for the organization.
  • Provide program evaluation for grant support (logic models, outcome/impact evaluation, network analysis).
  • Interact with, and represent CenterState CEO in meetings with other organizations, member businesses and institutions.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. but may be flexible as agreed to by portfolio leads.

Travel: Local travel is expected for this position. 

Minimum Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s Degree with 3-4 years of analytical/research experience including building databases from primary research or mining data for significant trends or changes or a master’s degree with a concentration in economic or public policy research and evaluation preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Outstanding ability in data collection, statistics, and statistical inference.
  • The ability to use programs such as Excel spreadsheets, Word, and data visualization programs such as Flourish, Tableau and R.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Presentation skills for communicating data and research to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical ability; must be able to collect, analyze, manipulate, interpret, report and utilize data; must have the ability to identify, organize, analyze and evaluate data and information and translate it into public policy, business strategy recommendations, or economic development priorities.
  • Work at highest level of integrity, honesty, and openness.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Close mental and visual attention required to perform with analytical capability, strong verbal and written communications skills, using a computer terminal and extensive reading and research.
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift up to 20 lbs., open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and, filing cabinets.
