Downtown Committee of Syracuse

The Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit professional downtown management organization with a mission to revitalize Downtown Syracuse.  It is an advocate for its constituents, and a catalyst for improvement through programs focused on business services, attention to the public realm and economic development. Through market branding, promotion and advertising, the Downtown Committee sets the vision for Downtown Syracuse and communicates a positive message, promoting the area’s growth and desirability.

As a steward of the Downtown Special Assessment District, the Downtown Committee plays an essential role to make sure downtown is clean, attractive, safe and vibrant. The boundaries of the Special Assessment District are I-690 on the north, I-81 to the east, Adams Street on the south, and Onondaga Creek to the west.

The Downtown Committee is an independently operated 501(c)(4) organization, governed by a 15-member Board of Directors. It is co-located with the team of CenterState CEO, Visit Syracuse and other community organizations at 115 West Fayette Street. The Downtown Committee also operates a Downtown Security and Information Center, located at 440 South Warren Street.

The Downtown Committee successfully partners with CenterState CEO and other community members to encourage growth in the city center. Through collaborative approaches focused on economic development priorities, the organizations are able to achieve positive outcomes.
