Economic Development Specialist

You will support the economic development team by conducting research, providing analysis and summarizing financial documents, policies and incentive programs. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in attracting new companies to the region and assisting existing ones with job growth and expansion.

Status: Hourly, Non-exempt/full-time 

Division/Department: Inclusive Growth 

Reports to: VP of Economic Development

Salary/Hourly Pay: $27.18-$32.31 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee data analytics and reporting metrics for various programs.
  • Collaborate with businesses, entrepreneurs, developers and partners to monitor ongoing investments.
  • Research and report on relevant governmental programs and legislation.
  • Analyze local business conditions to solve specific problems.
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders to support economic development efforts.
  • Maintain a prospect list and develop engagement opportunities.
  • Stay informed about local, state, and federal incentives for businesses.
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams within CenterState CEO.
  • Manage Salesforce CRM dashboards and generate reports.
  • Assist in planning and executing CenterState CEO’s presence at industry events.
  • Respond to client and prospect inquiries with relevant information.
  • Support Inclusive Growth entrepreneurship programs and manage budgets and grants.


  • Bachelor's degree preferred; 3 years of experience in economic development, community development, sales, account management or a related field required. Professional certification and experience at a 2:1 ratio may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to work in a flexible, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • Financial underwriting and analysis skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and experience with CRM systems.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 10%).

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail is required to perform work effectively, including verbal communication, using a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality is essential in handling sensitive information and communications.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and push and/or pull up to 20-pound loads at a time relative to office materials.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
