(Syracuse, NY) A local partnership is once again offering the Nourishing Tomorrow’s Leaders program which focuses on leadership development through nonprofit board service. The 9-week course begins March 29 and is offered each Wednesday night through May 24 (no class 4/19) with graduation on May 31st. Classes run from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the CNY Philanthropy Center and a light meal is provided. The cost is $50 with scholarships available. Applications are available online with a deadline of March 3.

The purpose is to increase inclusiveness and diversity on non-profit boards; increase the pool of effective board members; enhance the pool of new leaders in the community; educate and inspire those who participate and provide quality training to individuals in the community. NTL is designed and co-sponsored by the Gifford Foundation, the Central New York Community Foundation, Leadership Greater Syracuse, the Human Services Leadership Council and City of Syracuse residents.
This affordable course is taught by community leaders. It provides an overview of how board members add value, how to make the connection between your passion and
area nonprofits, what it means to be a nonprofit and more. Topics include Board ABCs, organizational lifecycles, group dynamics, networking and conflict resolution.

“Among many valuable lessons, I learned vision determines the direction of the organization,” states 2016 NTL graduate Ken Wells. “I cannot be halfhearted about the organization or I will be unlikely to invest in the organization’s future.”
Since its inception in the fall of 2014 the program has graduated 78 community leaders and connected them with over 40 local boards.
