SYRACUSE, NY – Robert M. Simpson, president of CenterState CEO, in Syracuse, issued the below statement following the passage of CHIPS and Science Act in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“CenterState CEO applauds members of the U.S. House of Representatives for passing the CHIPS and Science Act. CenterState CEO additionally recognizes Congressman John Katko for his support of this landmark legislation that will invest heavily in the reshoring of the semiconductor supply chain and make major investments in research and development via our country's higher education institutions.

This is an important step forward for our community and country. This legislation is critically important and needed to advance regional efforts to attract a major semiconductor project to the White Pine mega-site, in Clay. The CHIPS and Science Act now goes to President Joe Biden who has promised to sign the legislation into law.

Together with U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, and other local, state and federal leaders, CenterState CEO has vocally advocated for the CHIPS and Science Act. We believe we are now well positioned to increase our global competitiveness in the semiconductor industry and establish Upstate New York a viable hub for advanced manufacturing and innovation once again. This is an incredibly exciting moment for our country and community.”
