SYRACUSE, NY (Dec. 11, 2018) – The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology (MOST) is pleased to announce that several new interactive exhibits have been installed on the Museum floor in recent weeks. All five (5) exhibits are part of a large collection the MOST recently acquired from the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami, Fl. The entire collection is bilingual, displaying exhibit titles and hands-on instructions in both English and Spanish. These pieces in particular teach MOST guests about a variety of energy principles, from energy storage to renewable energy. The new exhibits include: - Store Energy for Future Use
- In this exhibit, visitors learn about generating and storing energy.
- Design a Wind Turbine
- This exhibit is designed to teach visitors how wind turbines convert the wind’s kinetic energy into electricity and empowers guests to make turbine shapes of their own to see which designs work best.
- Bike Generator
- In this exhibit, visitors are given the opportunity to use a seated bicycle to produce electricity and power a fan, light bulb and hand saw.
- Traffic Airtable
- Guests experiment with object motion on a reduced friction table and explore how barriers they use impacts object motion.
- Centripetal Acceleration
- Visitors engage in experimentation with how objects of different mass and shape behave when placed on a rotating circular table.
Along with these five exhibits, the MOST plans to unveil more than 10 pieces from the new collection within the coming months. These new additions to the MOST’s exhibit collection support the Museum’s vision as Central New York’s leading science and technology center, inspiring all generations through hands-on STEM education. “This generous donation of exhibits from the Frost Museum is a great opportunity for the MOST to renew its commitment to interactive and engaging exhibits,” said MOST’s Chief Program Officer Peter Plumley. The MOST also acquired the upcoming Amazon Adventure exhibit from the Frost Museum. This bilingual, interactive exhibit is slated to open on Friday, Feb. 15.
