Here are the 6 companies competing for nearly $3M in Syracuse biz competition Genius NY

Syracuse, N.Y. — Six young companies, all involved in the emerging unmanned vehicle industry, have been selected to compete for $2.75 million in cash prizes in the Genius NY business competition at the Syracuse Technology Garden.

The companies were selected from among 250 that applied to participate in the program, which is funded by the state and modeled after the 43North program in Buffalo.

The six finalists moved into the Tech Garden this month, a requirement of the competition. They will spend the next year growing their businesses and receiving mentoring and other assistance from the business incubator center, which is operated by CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity at 235 Harrison St.

In March, three of the companies will be chosen to receive grand prize investments of $1 million, $600,000 and $400,000. The other three companies will each receive $250,000. All will be required to give CenterState a 5 percent ownership stake in return for the investments.
