Rosamond Gifford Zoo to Host Easter-Themed Egg-Stravaganza Event

Posted on March 15, 2024

The Rosamond Gifford Zoo invites guests to celebrate Easter early at the Egg-Stravaganza event on March 24. From 10:30-3:30pm, guests can look on as animal specialists bestow various species with Easter-themed enrichment gifts.

Enrichment is a crucial element of animal welfare, stimulating natural instincts and behaviors. While the animals receive consistent enrichment in different forms, unique enrichment experiences like this one represent a break from routine for each species and presents the opportunity to further educate guests on the important role of enrichment. Presenting unusual enrichment items, such as Easter egg-themed treats or toys, provides variety to the special enrichment items that our animals typically interact with.

The Egg-stravaganza begins at 10:30 a.m. on the Wildlife Trail, where the zoo’s two blue cranes will receive their egg-themed enrichment. The fun continues throughout the day and throughout the zoo, with a new gift-giving session every thirty minutes (see schedule below).

With paid admission, guests gain access to view the enrichment sessions, as well as walk the zoo at their leisure.
