The Racial Equity and Social Impact (RESI) team is offering two amazing opportunities to expand your diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work this month by sharing strategies on recruiting, attracting and retaining diverse talent.
Join us Monday, Apr. 17 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Onondaga Community College for a documentary screening and discussion of “Clusterluck.” The 25-minute film explores cluster hiring — a recruitment practice known to increase diversity and promote interdisciplinary collaboration, in addition to building and sustaining a community. So, if you’ve been thinking about recruiting, attracting and retaining diverse talent, you won’t want to miss this premiere. Dr. Candace Hall, scholar and filmmaker, and assistant professor at Southern Illinois University in the department of Educational Leadership, will be our special guest during a panel discussion with the filmmakers and other experts. Following the conversation will be a community think tank on approaches leading to diverse and inclusive strategies.
This cost-effective work session is appropriate for human resource professionals, decision makers and employees in all industries (e.g., higher education and health care), including those businesses that typically do not hire in clusters, e.g., nonprofits. Session leaders will share ideas on how companies can collaborate to create safe, inclusive communities outside of work, including networking opportunities via CenterState CEO’s Generation Next initiative. Register.
The third and final session of the RESI Leadership Series - The LGBTQIA+ Experience will explore ways to create an inclusive workplace for individuals of all identities through the intersectionality of gender, gender identity and sexual orientation. Attendees will discover what it means to build intentional LGBTQIA+ spaces in the workplace and understand challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, such as discrimination, stigma and bias. Panelists are ParKer Bryant, Ph.D. student, and Rev. Michael Sgro, founder of Michael Sgro Leadership Coaching.
