The future of U.S. semiconductor manufacturing is in New York State.
Backed by the federal CHIPS and Science Act, the NY SMART I-Corridor is uniting Upstate New York’s strengths in manufacturing, workforce development and research to build a globally leading tech hub.
Today, only 1% of semiconductor memory chips are currently produced in the United States. By 2034, one in four American-made chips will come from within a 350-mile radius of the NY SMART I-Corridor. No other area will account for a greater share of domestic production.
This foundation is already being set through collaborative strategies with businesses, higher education, economic development groups and community-based organizations that are redefining the future of technology.
One Super-region
The NY SMART I-Corridor is co-convened by the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, CenterState CEO and OneROC and supported by a coalition of over 100 organizations – spanning leading businesses, higher education, economic development groups and community-based organizations.
Together – along with our SCAN, STEP UP and C3 component project partners – we are driving the transformational growth of our regional advanced manufacturing economy.
