Southwest Airlines will launch daily, nonstop service between Syracuse Hancock International Airport and Orlando International Airport, starting this fall. The seasonal service is scheduled to begin Oct. 5, 2023, with daily flights scheduled to depart early each afternoon from Syracuse. This seasonal daily Syracuse-Orlando service expands the airline’s existing year-round Saturday-only nonstop service.
“We are thrilled our partner Southwest Airlines has chosen to continue growing their offerings here in Syracuse,” said Syracuse Regional Airport Authority Executive Director Jason Terreri. “Orlando is easily our community’s top market, and we appreciate Southwest’s efforts to meet that demand for leisure and business travelers.”
Southwest has been serving the Syracuse market for less than a year-and-a-half. The announcement of expanded service comes after a delegation from the airline visited the region for a familiarization tour in March. Their visit included a chance to meet with businesses at a CenterState CEO Signature Access event, sponsored by Dannible & McKee, as well as a breakfast presentation to a group of CenterState CEO members and other members of the community. Southwest representatives say the visit was helpful in their efforts to better understand and grow in the Central New York region.
In addition to the seasonal daily Orlando service, the low-cost carrier provides three flights daily to Baltimore-Washington International Airport in Baltimore, Maryland, connecting to more than 60 destinations. The carrier also operates seasonal weekly flights to Tampa International Airport in Tampa, Florida.
