The CNY Alzheimer’s Association offers three main volunteer categories:

1. Programs

Program volunteers focus on supporting caregivers and individuals affected by Alzheimer’s. They provide peer support, deliver educational resources, and find innovative ways to reduce feelings of isolation. Opportunities include:

  • Community Educators
  • Community Representatives
  • Support Group Facilitators

2. Walk to End Alzheimers & other Dementia

These volunteers play a vital role in the Association's Walk events. They help plan and execute events that honor loved ones lost, support those currently facing the disease, and raise funds for a future free of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Volunteer roles include:

  • Planning Volunteers
  • Day-of-Event Volunteers

3. Advocacy

Advocates work to raise awareness and drive change by engaging with elected officials, the media, and local communities. They build support through social media campaigns, outreach efforts, and connections with legislators and partner organizations, especially during key moments. Activities include:

  • Engaging with campaigns and events
  • Amplifying awareness via media
  • Strengthening ties with the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement
