Fed up with the pressures of fame, starlet Myra Marlowe visits a small New England town to hide out and write her autobiography. Her prying neighbors cause Myra to get tangled up in lies, as she invents a mad, homicidal sister (that’s really Myra in a wig). When the local handyman falls for her batty “sister” and local church ladies fixate on saving her soul, Myra’s lies bring her more than she bargained for.
A Bad Year for Tomatoes premiered at the John Patrick Dinner Theater in North Royalton, Ohio on November 15, 1974. Directed by William Allman, the production featured Rhoda Rosen, James Buerkel, Mary Anne Sheboy and Irma Lange.
