Stephen D. Fournier, president of the Central New York market of KeyBank, has spent nearly four decades with the bank and was recently elected chairman of CenterState CEO’s board of directors.
Fournier, a Syracuse native, said his path to banking was shaped by family influence. “I kind of got into this by way of my dad. My dad worked for Marine Midland and eventually HSBC. He liked meeting people. I appreciated the work that he did; he engaged with people and the community,” Fournier said.
Although he initially planned to study special education, Fournier switched to finance and marketing while at the University of Dayton. He joined KeyBank in 1986 and is now in his 39th year.
Earlier this year, CenterState CEO announced Fournier’s unanimous election as board chair. He has been involved with the organization since its founding in 2010, serving in multiple leadership roles over the past 15 years. “I look forward to continuing to drive economic prosperity and development through CenterState CEO’s transformative programming and resources,” he said.
