Syracuse, N.Y. – Excellus BlueCross BlueShield (Excellus BCBS) and FamilyCare Medical Group (FCMG) have announced a new contract agreement effective Jan. 1, 2025, that will keep FCMG in the Excellus BCBS provider network.
Excellus BCBS members can continue to access FCMG providers as they always have.
“While contract negotiations are a standard part of our business and very typical for this time of year, it is never lost on us how important it is for our members that we reach an agreement and keep the doctors and hospitals they trust in our network,” said Jim Reed, president and CEO of Excellus BCBS.
“Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. This agreement reflects our unwavering commitment to advocating for their needs and ensuring they continue to receive the exceptional care they deserve,” said Dr. Mitchell V. Brodey, president and CEO of FamilyCare Medical Group.
Reed added that Excellus BCBS is grateful for FCMG, WellNow Urgent Care and the other local providers in upstate New York who have recently come to the negotiation table focused on finding mutually beneficial, fair and equitable ways to maintain access to affordable, high-quality care.
“We’re fortunate in upstate New York that our doctors, hospitals and insurers who are locally based tend to come together in a very collaborative way,” he added.
Members with questions about their benefits or coverage at FCMG can call Excellus BCBS Customer Care using the number on the back of their member card. For more provider contract updates, please visit ExcellusBCBS.com/NetworkUpdates.
