SYRACUSE, NY – Excellus BlueCross BlueShield is proud to announce its recognition by Forbes as one of America’s Best Employers for Women 2024. This award highlights the organization’s ongoing commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where women can thrive and advance their careers.
This is the first time Excellus BCBS made the America’s Best Employers for Women list, which is comprised of 600 organizations across the nation. The nonprofit health insurer ranked No. 103 among all employers nationally and No. 6 among all employers in the insurance industry.
“Inclusion, diversity, equity and access are everyone's responsibility, and this recognition is a beautiful example of how that shows up within our organization,” said Sady Alvarado-Fischer, vice president, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion officer for Excellus BCBS. “To continue impacting change and creating equitable environments, it takes all of us – together. We are proud of this recognition, and even more proud of the amazing women and allies who work here, driving greater equity and serving our communities every single day.”
America’s Best Employers for Women 2024 are identified using an independent survey from a vast sample of more than 150,000 women working for companies employing at least 1,000 people within the U.S. from all different industries.
The final ranking is based on three types of evaluations:
- Personal – Women were presented with a variety of statements about their current employer, with topics related to Atmosphere & Development, Diversity, Image, Salary/Wage, Workplace, and Working Conditions, as well as topics women are often confronted with in the workplace: Representation & Career, Pay Equity, Discrimination, Flexibility, Family Support, and Parental Leave.
- Public - Women were given the chance to evaluate other employers in their respective industries, or the employers of friends, acquaintances, and family members that stand out either positively or negatively.
- Diversity Among Top Executives/Board - Index based on the percentage of women among top executives and board directors.
This prestigious award is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc, a global data and business intelligence platform established in Germany in 2007.
