The Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo is delighted to announce the publication of Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park, a new history book written by Barbara Sheklin Davis, Ph.D. To celebrate the book’s release, the Friends of the Zoo will host a book signing event on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear Davis read an excerpt of her book, sign copies, and participate in a Q&A session with Zoo Executive Director, Ted Fox.
The monograph chronicles the century-long history of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. Featuring an array of historical photographs, archival documents, and first-hand accounts, Davis presents a detailed account of the zoo’s humble beginnings and transformation into the leader in wildlife conservation it is today.
Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park is now available for purchase at the Curious Cub Giftshop at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo or online at the giftshop’s website. The book makes the perfect gift for historians, Syracusans, and wildlife lovers. When purchased directly through the gift shop, proceeds benefit the Rosamond Gifford Zoo’s mission of wildlife conservation.
