Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo to Host ‘Zoo Run Run’ 5k for CharityPosted on April 4, 2024 |
The Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo will host a 5k run throughout zoo grounds on Sunday, April 14. The event begins at 7 a.m. when the first wave of runners embarks on their run, which is composed of five laps around the zoo’s vibrant Wildlife Trail. After three waves of runners finish racing, a kid-friendly “Dragonling Dash” will be held. The zoo is encouraging guests to register now and begin fundraising in anticipation of the event – and offering exclusive perks and prizes for different fundraising benchmarks.
“The Zoo Run Run embodies our commitment to conservation and community.” said Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo Executive Director, Carrie Large. “Every step taken supports our mission to inspire minds, connect to animals, and contribute to our planet. This gathering brings the community together to unite towards a future where wildlife thrives.”
All are invited to participate, regardless of age or ability. Zoo Run Run participants have the unique opportunity to observe zoo animals’ morning routines while enjoying their run. After the final wave, registrants can experience the zoo before it officially opens at 10:00 a.m.
“Whether you’re running with a herd of friends or walking as a lone wolf, we hope to see you participating in this special fun run, raising money for a great cause,” Large said. “All the proceeds raised will support conservation both at our zoo and for wild populations abroad. Don’t forget that you can earn exclusive run merchandise and prizes through fundraising!”
