In Honor of May Being Mental Health Awareness Month - Oswego Health Hosts Event To Support CommunityPosted on May 16, 2024 |
(Oswego, NY – April 30, 2024) Oswego Health is holding a community conversation around mental health, on May 22nd at McCrobie Civic Center. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and openly talking about mental health can reduce stigmas and save lives. As a part of their Mental Health Awareness initiatives throughout the month, this free public event was created to give individuals and caregivers additional support and needed answers regarding mental health issues.
The event will be facilitated by Daniel McManus, Therapy Supervisor at Oswego Health. The event will include a panel discussion featuring other mental health clinicians. The discussion will run from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. with plenty of opportunity for open dialogue. Oswego Health’s goal for hosting this event is that more conversations will happen! Mental health is a critical issue that affects all of us, and it's essential to openly discuss it. More than 50% of Americans will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point in their lifetime. This event is an opportunity to learn more about mental health, mental wellness, and suicide prevention and to have a dialogue about these important topics.
