Kimberly Townsend has been named a 2023 Nonprofit Power Player by PoliciticsNY & amNY Metro, a Schneps Media publication. The “Nonprofit Power Player” list released today features “New York State public officials, business executives, and community leaders shaping the future of their city and New York State.”

As the CEO of the 4th-largest health system in Central New York, Kimberly Townsend is known for her strategic thinking and innovative approaches to significant challenges. For example, her workforce development initiatives to address staffing shortages has resulted in over 350 people joining Loretto in 2023 alone.

Examples of these programs include Loretto’s Certified Nurse Aide Training Program, the Certified Home Health Aide Training Program, and the first federally recognized Licensed Practical Nurse Apprenticeship Program which are all paid training opportunities for those who want to begin a career in healthcare or earn additional certification to advance their careers as Loretto employees.

The PoliticsNY and amNY Metro Nonprofit Power Players list highlights dedicated nonprofit leaders like Kimberly who are championing causes like accessible education and affordable housing, and is printed each year to celebrate individuals who are making a difference in their communities.

As the leader of Loretto, a nonprofit whose mission is to provide care for others, Kimberly embraces her role as a problem solver and understands the value and impact of accessible education for all: “Within the long-term care industry, there is a need for innovation, but there are limited resources. I welcome the challenge of being creative in problem-solving—maximizing the resources available and bringing the most innovative care to Loretto’s residents.”

Loretto is a leader in comprehensive healthcare services in Central New York. As the fourth largest healthcare provider and the sixth largest employer in the region, the 2,500 exceptional people at Loretto’s 19 locations deliver extraordinary care to close to 10,000 people of all ages, income levels, and care needs in Onondaga and Cayuga counties each year. From adult day programs and short-term rehabilitation, to the home-like settings in its assisted living communities and skilled nursing facilities, Loretto is actively investing in its employees, in medical research, and in new technologies to improve care in our community, Making Every Day Extraordinary. Loretto: exceptional people. Extraordinary care.
