Syracuse, NY (August 11, 2023) - The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology (MOST) is excited to announce the opening of its Summer of Lights exhibit, running from August 10 to September 17, a new addition to the PLAY exhibit Sponsored by AmeriCU Credit Union.
The Summer of Lights exhibit adds additional themed interactive and hands-on activities that encourage children to explore the electromagnetic spectrum, play with prisms, make their own sun catchers, and more. Visitors can learn more about light during the MOST's featured demonstration in the MolinaCares Media Lab every day at 2:00 pm during the month of August. In addition, the Summer of Lights exhibit will have free activity sheets and other resources to help families prepare for the Total Solar Eclipse in April 2024.
"We are delighted to collaborate with the MOST, providing children with a one-of-a-kind opportunity for exploration and play," said AmeriCU Credit Union Manager of Community &
Public Relations Andrea MacDiarmid. "At AmeriCU, our strong commitment to the community speaks to our values, and we believe that the PLAY Exhibit contributes to creating an environment that inspires our youth and creates cherished, lifelong memories."
When not hosting an installation like the Summer of Lights, PLAY serves as a space for just that: discovery, learning, and play. Museum guests can use their logic, problem-solving, and puzzling skills through a variety of gams and brain teasers, including giant versions of the classics like tic tac toe and checkers. This exhibit addresses math and computational thinking through hands-on play, an excellent tool for families to prevent the summer learning slide.
"Games and puzzles are the perfect way to challenge your logic, problem-solving, and computational thinking skills, and that's exactly what our new PLAY exhibit is all about," said MOST Senior Director of Education & Curation Dr. Emily Stewart. "We are grateful to AmeriCU Credit Union for supporting the creation of a space where families, classmates and friends can discover, learn, and PLAY together!"
