(Oswego, NY – July 1, 2024) Oswego Health is proud to announce the recent appointment of Wajeeh Sana, MD, FAAFP as Chief Medical Officer for the nonprofit healthcare system.
With over seventeen years of experience as an emergency physician, Wajeeh Sana, MD, FAAFP has been a member of the Medical Staff at Oswego Hospital since 2013. In 2023 he was appointed President of the Medical Staff. He’s held various leadership positions throughout his career in CNY including Service Medical Director for McFee Ambulance and Clinical Assistant Professor at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. In 2015 he became Medical Director and Chairman of the Oswego Hospital Emergency Department, Fulton and Central Square Urgent Care Centers.
Dr. Sana earned his medical degree from one of the most prestigious medical schools in Pakistan, Allama Iqbal Medical College, and completed his residency at St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
In this new role as CMO, Dr. Sana will provide leadership, direction, and planning for a wide variety of medical and related activities for the entire nonprofit healthcare system. As CMO he will serve as the liaison and resource to management on matters about medical staff activities to further the mission of the organization.
He will serve in a leadership capacity promoting and implementing changes that benefit patients and act as a liaison between the 100+ physicians and advanced practice providers employed by the health system and the 270 providers on the Medical Staff representing multiple specialty services across the community.
