Oswego Health

(Oswego, NY – August 18, 2025) Oswego Health Medical Practice is meeting a critical and growing healthcare need in Central New York with the launch of its new Pulmonary & Critical Care Clinic, which officially opened on August 11 in the Health Services Center, Suite G70 of Oswego Hospital. This much-anticipated service line will bring advanced respiratory and critical care medicine close to home, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the community for specialized treatment.

The clinic will diagnose, treat, and manage a broad range of pulmonary conditions—including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sleep apnea, pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, sarcoidosis, bronchiectasis, and work-related lung diseases—while also offering pulmonary function testing (PFT), CPAP/BiPAP therapy management, bronchoscopy referrals, smoking cessation programs, and oxygen therapy coordination.

In addition to outpatient care, the clinic’s board-certified physicians will work in collaboration with Oswego Hospital’s Hospitalist team and 24/7 ICU Telemedicine Services to provide inpatient consultation and management for critically ill patients. This dual focus strengthens care for individuals across the entire Oswego Health system, from routine follow-up to life-saving interventions in the ICU.

A Team of Distinguished Specialists

The Pulmonary & Critical Care Clinic launches with two accomplished physicians whose expertise spans decades and continents:

Girish Trikha, MD
Dr. Trikha is a well-recognized leader in pulmonary, sleep, and critical care medicine in Central New York, with nearly two decades of service at St. Joseph’s Hospital, SUNY Upstate Medical University, and the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine, he has led multiple specialty programs, including serving as Chief of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at CNY Pulmonary and Sleep. His extensive research, teaching, and leadership experience includes directing intensive care units, sleep labs, and thoracic oncology programs.

Rohini Singh Chatterjee, MD, MS
Dr. Chatterjee is a board-certified Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine specialist with an extraordinary background in both military and civilian healthcare. Most recently, she served as Chief of

Pulmonary Medicine and Co-Director of the ICU at Wright Patterson Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, overseeing care for more than 30,000 military beneficiaries. A former U.S. Air Force Critical Care Air Transport Physician, she has coordinated and delivered critical care for patients worldwide, including in active combat regions. Her expertise includes interstitial lung disease, pulmonary transplant, pulmonary vascular disease, lung cancer, immunotherapy, and smoking cessation. Dr. Chatterjee has also served as faculty at Harvard Medical School, San Antonio Military Medical Center, and Wright State University.

A Vital New Resource for the Community

Pulmonary and critical care medicine addresses complex and often life-threatening conditions involving the lungs and respiratory system—from respiratory failure to advanced lung cancer. The need for such care has grown in Oswego County due to an increasing prevalence of COPD, sleep apnea, pulmonary fibrosis, and other chronic lung diseases.

“The addition of a dedicated Pulmonary & Critical Care Clinic is a major step forward for Oswego Health and the community we serve,” said Wajeeh Sana, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Oswego Health and President of Oswego Health Medical Practice. “Dr. Trikha and Dr. Chatterjee bring a level of expertise and commitment to patient care that will make a profound difference in the lives of our patients, whether they need help managing a chronic condition or urgent, life-saving intervention.”
