Rosamond Gifford Zoo Executive Director Joins International Elephant FoundationPosted on January 16, 2024 |
The Rosamond Gifford Zoo is honored to announce that zoo’s executive director Ted Fox joined the Board of Directors of the International Elephant Foundation (IEF).
The IEF is a global leader in elephant conservation, coordinating and uniting the work of research institutions, sanctuaries and preserves, zoos, anti-poaching patrols, and more to reverse the negative population trends of wild elephants and secure a future for these incredible creatures.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said, "Under the leadership of Ted Fox, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo continues to be one of the premier zoos in the country. The fact that the IEF has offered Fox this prestigious position on their board of directors demonstrates just how prominent he is in the international conservation community and the tremendous job he and his team do every day.” County Executive Ryan McMahon continued, “This global recognition by a leading conservation group is just another recognition of Ted’s exemplary dedication and illustrates that our zoo is in the best of hands.”
As a member of the IEF board, Fox will provide insight and support to the organization’s extensive conservation efforts. Beyond this, Fox and the zoo will host events and fundraisers for the IEF’s mission.
“In this role, I can contribute our institution’s research to the global elephant community,” Fox said.
“This will amplify the conservation work we are already doing at our zoo, while bolstering global conservation efforts to protect all three elephant species.”
The zoo looks forward to updating the zoo community on Fox’s IEF work later this year.
