WHAT: The Rosamond Gifford Zoo will distribute post-Halloween pumpkins to its animals Saturday, November 4, at the Squishing of the Squash animal enrichment event. The public is invited to watch as animals from tigers to camels to elephants romp, stomp and chomp pumpkins of all sizes throughout the day. The event is free for members and with paid zoo admission.
WHERE: Rosamond Gifford Zoo, 1 Conservation Place, Syracuse, NY 13204
WHEN: Saturday, November 4, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Full schedule below.
Media window is 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Media must be escorted per county policy.
NOTE: The elephant herd will receive their enormous ‘Great Pumpkin’ at 12:15 p.m.
WHY: Opportunity to photograph/videotape animals receiving pumpkin enrichments at an event that spotlights the zoo’s enrichment program. Enrichment means offering the animals new sights, sounds, smells and experiences to elicit their natural behaviors.
