Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County will be hosting a Soil Health & Climate Resiliency Field Day on Tuesday, June 24th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Grindstone Farms located at 3780 County Route 28, Pulaski, NY 13142.
This series is for producers looking to improve the quality of their soils. Building soil health can help farms adapt to extreme weather, suppress weeds, and improve overall crop performance. Guest presenter will be Dr. Joseph Amsili, Senior Extension Associate and Program Director for the New York State Soil Health Team. Also speaking will be Crystal Stewart, an Extension Vegetable Specialist for Eastern NY Commercial Horticulture Program. Topics will include reducing tillage, soil compaction, cover cropping, and tarping techniques for mixed vegetable operations. There will also be a soil health demonstration and a group panel to discuss other strategies for improving agricultural soils. A guided tour will be provided by Grindstone Farm, a certified organic fruit and vegetable farm.
There will be plenty of time for questions and networking. The cost is $10 per person, which includes a light dinner. Registration is required, reserve your spot here.
