Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) recently had their second annual challenge with a local business partner, Practice Resources, LLC (PRL), to collect food for donation to the Food Bank of Central New York. The companies collected food from their employees through Friday, November 12. On Wednesday, November 17, representatives from each company delivered their collections for the final “weigh-off.” This year, PRL collected the most food donations, collecting 3,400 items. SOS collected nearly 2,000 foodstuffs. A total donation of 4,523lbs of food was made, which equates to 3,769 meals for families experiencing food insecurity.
“PRL is a great local business partner to SOS. We enjoyed this friendly competition last year and felt it was the right thing to challenge them again and at the same time help area residents in need,” commented Dr. Brett Greenky, president of SOS. “SOS gladly concedes the competition to PRL who did a fantastic job rallying their employees. Of course, the real winners are the Central New York residents who are struggling to feed their families and keep nourished and healthy.”
As an integral part of the Central New York community, SOS is committed to supporting local non-profits and the residents they serve. SOS has partnered with the Food Bank of the CNY many times in the past, to ensure they can meet the emergency food needs of the individuals and organizations in the nine counties they serve and support their mission to eliminate hunger.
