SOS’ Specialists’ One-Day Surgery Center Earns Top National Award for Outstanding Quality of Care

In recognition of its quality and patient safety, SOS Specialists’ One-Day Surgery Center (SODS) was named a Leapfrog Top Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in 2024, one of only 31 selected nationally and the only ASC selected in New York State for the competitive award. This is the fourth year of Leapfrog’s Top ASC award, which honors top performers as verified by the Leapfrog ASC Survey. The award is presented by The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization of employers and other purchasers widely acknowledged as the toughest standard-setters for health care safety and quality.

The quality of patient care across many areas of ASC performance is considered in identifying award winners, including staffing, patient experience, hand hygiene, surgical checklist protocols, and error prevention.

A total of 31 ASCs across the United States were selected as Top ASCs, representing: 

• 9 States  -California, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Tennessee  
• 9 Specialties - Gastroenterology, general surgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, orthopedic surgery, urology, neurological surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and plastic and reconstructive surgery
