Syracuse Mets 2027 "Re-Name The Team" Community ContestPosted on August 6, 2025 |
|
2026 will mark the 150th year of professional baseball in Syracuse and we want you, our community, to help us usher into a new era of Syracuse Baseball.
From the Syracuse Stars to the Syracuse Chiefs to Sky Chiefs, back to the Chiefs and then the Syracuse Mets we have had many names over the past 149 years.
From Star Park to Municipal Stadium to MacArthur Stadium to historic NBT Bank Stadium, we have seen countless legends take the field to entertain us with the great game of Baseball.
We are one of the originals, we are steeped in tradition and baseball lore. Our history helped shape us and our rich tradition will guide us into the future of this game.
We are proud to have been part of this community for 150 years and plan to be here for 150 more. We want you, our beloved fans, to help us forge our new identity. Help us become engrained with a new name, a new identity that is about Syracuse and about Central New York.
We are taking submissions for a new name and new identity. Please submit your idea here and we will reveal the top 10 choices on September 2nd for a new contest to whittle the name down to 5 finalists on September 14th.
We will celebrate the 150th season on the field as the Mets and the 2026 season will be a season to celebrate the rich history of identities and affiliates we have had over the years.
So please offer your suggestions here and we hope you all come up with a fantastic new identity for your Syracuse Mets.
Submissions for the first phase will be accepted here until 8/31/2025 at midnight EST.
