Excellus BlueCross BlueShield announces $10,000 grants for local community organizations through Federal Home Loan Bank of New York program

SYRACUSE, NY – Excellus BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) is pleased to announce that several local community-based organizations will each receive a $10,000 grant through the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York’s Small Business Recovery Grant Program.

As a nonprofit health plan deeply rooted in the communities it serves, Excellus BCBS is committed to giving back, supporting local organizations, and investing in the places where its employees and members live and work. Through its partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York, Excellus BCBS had the opportunity to nominate organizations making a meaningful impact across the region. The selected organizations serve communities across Upstate New York, including Syracuse, Utica and Johnson City.

“At Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, we believe strong communities are built through meaningful partnerships and sustained investment,” says Excellus BCBS President and CEO Jim Reed. “At a time when many communities are facing rising housing costs and increased demand for social services, these grants help strengthen critical local support systems. These organizations are doing critical work to uplift individuals and families, and we’re proud to support their efforts to create opportunity, improve wellbeing, and build a healthier future for all.”

The grant recipients are:

Food Access Healthy Neighborhoods Now (FAHNN) – CNY Solidarity Coalition (Syracuse, NY)
FAHNN provides essential services that support children, families, and individuals, including early childhood education, mental health services, and family support programs. The organization plays a vital role in improving stability and wellbeing for vulnerable populations. Website: https://fahnn.org/

Tiny Homes for Good (Syracuse, NY)
Tiny Homes for Good addresses housing insecurity by building affordable, energy-efficient homes for individuals experiencing homelessness. The organization also creates employment and skill-building opportunities through its construction initiatives. Website: https://www.atinyhomeforgood.org/

Mom’s House (Johnson City, NY)
Mom’s House empowers young parents by providing a safe and supportive environment where they can complete their education while receiving childcare support. The organization helps break cycles of poverty and fosters long-term independence for families. Website: https://momshouseny.org/

Utica Center for Development (Utica, NY)
The Utica Center for Development focuses on community revitalization, workforce development, and creating pathways to economic opportunity. Through its programs, the organization supports residents in achieving stability and growth.
