Job Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Director of IT to oversee and support all aspects of our organization’s technology needs. This role is responsible for managing IT infrastructure, hardware, software, and help desk operations while ensuring that systems run smoothly and securely. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded IT professional with strong leadership skills and broad technical knowledge, someone who can guide strategy while also being directly involved in daily support and operations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
- Oversee the day-to-day IT operations, including end-user support, hardware, software, and network systems.
- Take ownership of the organization’s IT operations, from strategic oversight to day-to-day troubleshooting and support.
- Manage and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, workstations, mobile devices, printers, and cloud services.
- Ensure timely and effective help desk support for employees across the organization.
- Manage and support the organization’s software, including everyday office tools and business applications.
- Implement and monitor security policies to protect company systems and data.
- Manage vendor relationships, including purchasing hardware, software licenses, and negotiating service contracts.
- Develop and maintain IT documentation, including asset inventory, procedures, and support materials.
- Assist in developing the IT budget and monitor expenses to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Stay informed on new technologies and recommend improvements that support organizational goals.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. but can be flexible as agreed to by portfolio leads.
Travel
Travel between multiple locations.
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 6+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure: networking (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN), cloud services, and system administration.
- Hands-on experience with hardware (desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers) and common software platforms (Microsoft 365, Windows, and macOS).
- Experience managing a help desk
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the company.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with day-to-day IT troubleshooting and support.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or in meetings.
- Occasional lifting, moving, or installing of computer equipment, servers, or network hardware (up to ~40 lbs).
- Manual dexterity for working with cables, connectors, and other IT hardware.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex IT issues.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Clear communication skills for translating technical concepts into non-technical language.
- Leadership and decision-making skills to guide IT strategy and direct staff.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities, emerging technologies, and evolving business needs.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in planning, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
