Statement from CenterState CEO Chief Executive Officer Rob Simpson and Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sara Broadwell as Novelis brings its hot mill back online:
"Restarting operations at Novelis’s hot mill in Oswego County is encouraging news for the regional economy and the national automotive supply chain. As Oswego County’s largest manufacturing employer and a leading supplier of aluminum to automakers in the United States, Novelis is a critical driver of Central New York’s economy. Throughout the recovery, Novelis remained committed to its long-term future in Oswego County despite the challenges posed by the fire.
The community surrounding Novelis was essential to the recovery process. Oswego County residents and regional businesses came together in various ways to support Novelis and its employees during this difficult time. The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and CenterState CEO are proud to have played a role in these support efforts, and we are grateful to all our partners who extended a helping hand as the hot mill was rebuilt. We look forward to working with Novelis as the rebuilding process continues and are committed to helping them return to the market at full strength."
