VIP Development Associates, Inc. will serve as the master developer for the future home of ON-RAMP CNY, New York state's flagship One Network for Regional Advanced Manufacturing Partnerships (ON-RAMP) workforce training center. The property, 1300 South Salina St. in Syracuse, was formerly a Sears Roebuck store and has long stood vacant on the city's Southwest side. As the master developer, VIP will oversee planning for the comprehensive redevelopment of the site, with the ON-RAMP training facility serving as an anchor tenant. The development plan will take shape through a planning process that includes the ON-RAMP Community Advisory Committee. CenterState CEO Chief Executive Officer Rob Simpson spoke with Syracuse.com about the selection of VIP for the project:
"'CenterState CEO Rob Simpson said VIP was chosen to lead the project because of its experience redeveloping other prominent Syracuse buildings, including the Pike Block, One Webster’s Landing and the former Post-Standard building in Clinton Square.
'VIP is a great community partner,' he said.
Simpson said the ON-RAMP program will not utilize the entire former Sears building. Further planning will be needed to determine what community, retail or other uses would be appropriate for the remaining space, he said.'"
ON-RAMP CNY is operating out of a temporary facility at 1224 W. Genesee St., Syracuse during the redevelopment process.
