Some of the country's largest construction firms are now operating in Central New York to work on Micron Technology's site in Clay, NY. The companies chosen to execute the Micron project include Bechtel Co., Gilbane Inc., Jacobs Engineering, Kiewit Construction, and Veolia Corp. Speaking with Syracuse.com, CenterState CEO Chief Executive Officer Rob Simpson said their presence indicates how important this project is:
"'It gives me great comfort that the companies like Jacobs and Bechtel and Gilbane and others are here working with our local development community, interfacing with our local educational institutions and workforce development partners to effectively ensure success on a project that I think is not only critical to the country, but obviously really important to Central New York’s future,' Simpson said."
Smaller firms are also starting to expand their operations or establish a presence in the region to support the project. Construction engineering firm McFarland-Johnson recently opened an office in Salina and Boston-based Gradiant plans to move into a downtown Syracuse office by early 2027.
