CenterState CEO President and CEO Rob Simpson issued the following statement on Syracuse University's announcement naming Dr. J. Michael Haynie as its13th Chancellor and President:

“Congratulations to Syracuse University’s 13th Chancellor and president, Dr. J. Michael Haynie, and the entire Syracuse University community on this exciting and defining new chapter. This moment represents tremendous opportunity for both the University and our region, and it calls for leadership grounded in deep understanding, clear vision and collaborative strength.

Mike Haynie is unequivocally the right leader at this moment for the University. He understands the institution from the inside out and has demonstrated the capability to set a clear vision and strategic path that positions Syracuse University to lead with confidence in this new era. His leadership blends innovation with practicality, ambition with accountability, and vision with execution.

Syracuse University is a world-class academic institution, shaping the knowledge, talent and workforce of the next generation. It is one of the region’s largest employers, a powerful driver of research and economic growth, and a unifying force that brings pride and energy to our community through its athletics and civic engagement. The relationship between the University and the broader community is essential to our shared success.

Together, we have already demonstrated what is possible through partnership. In preparation for transformational investments like Micron Technology and other significant regional projects, we have worked side by side to shape workforce preparation strategies and align education with industry demand to impact all of Central New York.

As we look to this new chapter for Syracuse University, we commit to supporting Chancellor-elect Haynie and reinforcing our partnership. The entire CenterState CEO team stands ready to continue working alongside him and the Syracuse University community to deepen our shared impact and ensure that both the University and our region thrive.”
