Statement from CenterState CEO Acting President and CEO Ben Sio and Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sara Broadwell following a fire at the Novelis Plant in Scriba, New York:
“CenterState CEO and the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce express our unwavering support for Novelis and its dedicated team following the three-alarm fire at the Scriba facility on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025. We are deeply grateful that all employees were safely evacuated and accounted for, a testament to the swift and coordinated efforts of Novelis’s team and the more than 20 responding fire departments from across Oswego County.
Novelis’ presence means so much to our community and region, both as an employer and as a partner in our regional progress. As they assess the impact and begin recovery efforts, we stand ready to assist in any way possible to help them recover, rebuild and resume operations as soon as possible.
In the coming days, the GOFCC will share information on how community members and local businesses can contribute to support Novelis and its employees during this time. Together, we will help ensure that Novelis emerges from this incident stronger than ever.”
