LocalSYR spoke with CenterState CEO President Ben Sio in a recent segment on the need for more housing in Central New York. Sio highlighted the need for more financing options, expedited planning and approval processes, and developers to build a mix of housing types:
"''That’s a sign of a growing community, and we need to recognize that generally the demand for more housing is good, but that’s also a sign that we need to do better on the supply,' he said. 'We need to build more, and we need to build all types of housing.'"
There are currently 100 projects in the works across the region, with 14,000 units projected to be added to the market.
