Syracuse, NY (May 16, 2017) – Visit Syracuse, Inc. is proud to announce the appointment of Tracey Burkey to Vice President of Visitor and Partner Engagement.
Burkey’s experience and expertise in dealing with meeting and event planners, as well as the intricate details associated with hosting many successful major events will undoubtedly prove to be invaluable to the new Visit Syracuse, Inc.
Due to a new independent structure and bold new vision, Visit Syracuse, Inc. is introducing three new primary focus areas: Brand Development, Prospecting and Conversion and Visitor & Partner Engagement. Starting immediately, Burkey, will move into the newly created position to help develop and manage the new Visitor & Partner Engagement department.
“As part of our five year strategic plan, our new mission is now simply to drive tourism demand,” said Visit Syracuse President David Holder. “That is not possible if we are stretching our current staff to cover an area that needs to have its own team. We need a team solely dedicated to engaging with our visitors to enhance their experience. Tracey’s dynamic background will help to lead us into that unprecedented and bold new direction with new ideas and innovation.”
The Vice President of Visitor and Partner Engagement role also includes:
- Implementing operational plans for all projects designated as visitor engagement
- Leading hospitality programs to assist with large scale events and organizations that require significant time and financial resources, including the United States Bowling Congress (USBC), NCAA, international conventions and new events that require destination wide participation
- Cultivating partner development and revenue opportunities by overseeing Visit Syracuse’s Brand Ambassador
- Managing the training, developments, reports and data management of Visit Syracuse’s database, Simpleview
- Supervising visitor center operations
Burkey has been with the organization for 30 years and recently served as the Vice President of Sales & Services. She is also a Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME).
