CenterState CEO's Senior Manager of Neighborhood Development Jonathan Link Logan was recently recognized by the New York Land Bank Association as a recipient of its 2023 NY Land Bank Champion Award. The award recognizes individuals that are leaders in the field who have helped to advance the work of land banks, fighting blight and abandonment across the state.
CenterState CEO was among a coalition of leaders from the public, private and nonprofit sectors that strongly advocated for the passage of the New York State Land Bank Act, passed in 2011, that enabled the creation of the land banks in the state. The New York Land Bank Association (NYLBA) was formed in 2015 to support those land banks. The NYLBA has since contracted with CenterState CEO for staff support, through which Link Logan provides support to the otherwise all-volunteer organization. He also currently serves on the board of directors for the Greater Syracuse Land Bank.
The Greater Syracuse Land Bank has been a vital tool for combating vacancy, blight, and putting properties back on the tax rolls. The Greater Syracuse Landbank has generated $1.9 million a year in property taxes and sold more than 1,200 properties since its creation in 2012. The CenterState CEO team continues to support the New York Land Bank Association by advocating for legislative reform and helping to secure funding.
