Operation Oswego County aims to implement sound economic development strategies to enhance the economic vitality of Oswego County's businesses, industries and citizens for a better overall quality of life. This not-for-profit organization has a 24-member voluntary board of directors comprised of representatives from county government, municipalities, education, labor and private business. Since 1953, Operation Oswego County has delivered more than $5.7 billion in investments and helped to create or retain 32,227 jobs.
Most recently, Operation Oswego County was instrumental in securing more than $8 million in grant funding through the FAST NY program to expand utilities, construct a new electrical substation, and enhance access at the L. Michael Treadwell Oswego County Industrial Park in Schroeppel. Combined with prior federal and local funding, the total investment now exceeds $13 million, positioning the park to support up to 1.1 million sq. ft. of new industrial space and attract advanced manufacturing and semiconductor employers.
“With modern infrastructure and an accessible location, the site is well-positioned to support advanced manufacturing and the semiconductor industry,” said Austin Wheelock, Executive Director of Operation Oswego County and CEO of the Oswego County IDA. “This investment will transform the Oswego County Industrial Park into one of the most business-ready and strategically located sites in Central New York and all of New York State.”
