On Point is a nationally-recognized college attainment program. Founded in 1999 to help first-generation students gain access to college, the organization has since expanded its offerings to include college success support, career planning and placement support, and most recently, support with non-college post-secondary credential attainment. On Point services are 100% free and available to students of all ages, backgrounds and educational levels. It has grown from serving only Syracuse, New York, to serving nearly all of Central New York, including Cayuga, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga and Oswego counties.
On Point officially celebrated the opening of its new Syracuse location at 224 Harrison St., Suite 603 in Syracuse in November 2025, marking an exciting new chapter in the organization’s mission to help students get to college, succeed and graduate career-ready. From early beginnings with just 35 students in college to now serving around 3,000 students and celebrating more than 5,000 graduates to earn nearly 6,000 degrees, this growth reflects the power of access, support and community.
On Point’s meaningful community partnerships continue to help break down barriers and build opportunity for all students. In 2023, On Point and NBT Bank announced the creation of a new dedicated Career Advisor position. This position focuses on developing and empowering prospective students to earn the skills needed for a successful career in the New York microchip manufacturing industry. On Point is also an essential partner to CenterState CEO as it supports the Bridge to Manufacturing Careers program and other workforce innovation programming.
