U.S. Materials Handling (USMH) is a family-owned business that recently transitioned to the third and fourth generation of family ownership. The company was founded in 1956 by Robert and Erma Payne in Utica, New York; growing from a small, two-person operation to a multi-location full line materials handling company operated by their three sons, Robert, Jr., Jon and Michael. In 2021, they sold the business to Jon’s son-in-law, Shaun O’Brien, and his son, Shane.
USMH provides sales, service, rentals and parts for forklifts, racking, cranes, conveyors and anything needed to outfit and operate a company’s manufacturing, distribution, warehousing or other business with materials handling needs.
With new ownership comes new enthusiasm and renewed energy for business growth. USMH has been helping customers lift it, move it and store it for 66 years and is excited to continue growing well into the 21st century.
With hundreds of customers across the state and many more across the country and the world, USMH’s growth has created open positions in its Syracuse, Utica and Albany locations. Learn more at www.usmhcorp.com.
